The idea of ENSLT – European Network of Sign Language Teachers, emerged during a conference in Prague, Czech Republic – LESICO October 18-20, 2013.
This conference was the first international conference for sign language teachers (mostly residing in Europe). The teachers saw that they had a common need and came with four points to focus upon after the meeting in the Czech Republic.
- To promote knowledge and exchange of information and experience in professional Sign Language teaching, learning and assessment.
- To provide advice, training and support to Sign Language Teachers/Instructors (SLT).
- To encourage exchange of information through meetings and publications.
- To ensure for Deaf people the protection of their profession.
It was launched in 2015, an interim administration of five people with the aim of establishing ENSLT.
